This is one of the simplest knots to make. Frequently used to decorate toys, like little string dolls.

Materials:
Use two pieces of No. 5 thread of various lengths depending on the use.

Step 1. Place one string horizontally on mat. Place second string folded at the midpoint over horizontal thread. Fasten with pin. View Step 1

Step 2. Take right end of horizontal string and loop over vertical strands. View Step 2

Step 3. Take left end of horizontal string tuck under two vertical strands. View Step 3

Step 4. Pul left end over outer loop, tighten string and Flat Knot is complete. View Step 4

Step 5. This knot can be continued again and again until the desired number is reached.
