What is the Cornelius
Low House ?
Built in 1741 as the home of a wealthy merchant of Dutch ancestry, this
two-story stone house is now the Middlesex County Museum, presenting
changing exhibits about state and local history, with related school,
outreach, and public programs.
Who was Cornelius
Low ?
Cornelius Low was a leading citizen of Raritan Landing, a port community
on the Raritan River in central New Jersey that flourished between 1720

Registers of Historic Places, and was surveyed in 1937 for the Historic
American Building Survey. A major restoration of the Low House was completed
in 1996.
