VSA arts of New Jersey Festivals: Performances,
exhibits and workshops are held regionally throughout the year. Schools, individuals
and agencies serving individuals with disabilities are encouraged to pre-register and
participate in a day of enriching arts experiences.

Potential Theatre Company
(UPTCo)

This theater company
focuses on integrating the talents of actors with and without disabilities.
Performances are fully accessible for both audience and cast members, with
accommodations made to encourage the participation of all who are interested.

Theater company activities include:
- Weekly workshops that offer training in all aspects of theater
- Annual mainstage production
- Touring performances throughout New Jersey
- Wordsmith Competition and Joyce Indik Readers' Theater to honor
outstanding New Jersey writers.

Parent Child Workshops in Music and Arts for Children with Autism
|

Weekly sessions are offered for children with autism and their families. Classes provide experiences in music and art for young people, fostering the development and retention of an array of cognitive,
communication, and social skills.

Arts Achievement
Awards

VSA/NJ annually
presents awards to students with disabilities who have demonstrated a commitment
to the arts; to educators and administrators who have developed outstanding
programs in the arts for young people with disabilities; and to individuals
who have distinguished themselves through their commitment to arts education for
young people with disabilities. Award recipients become candidates for the New
Jersey Governor's Awards in Arts Education.

Arts Par Excellence
|

Touring exhibit of artwork, one piece
of which is chosen from every school district, private school or agency throughout
the state. Works are displayed annually at locations statewide, including a
reception recognizing the students and their schools. Works are selected
through February, and toured during the spring.

Storyteller
Players

Weekly workshops are designed to develop skills and encourage the joy of
participation in theater activities, for adults with developmental
disabilities.

Mercer County Arts Institute
|
| |
A coordinated succession of arts education experiences is offered to young people with disabilities who reside in Mercer County. Beginning in the
fall with a fine arts component, the year progresses through music, drama, and theater studies.

Services

VSA/NJ provides information and assistance with an arts issue as it relates to individuals with disabilities, as they relate to individuals with disabilities, accessibility
and programmatic or physical accommodations.
