BRIDGE
SECTION
The Bridge Section
monitors the condition of the County’s 142 bridges and 108 culverts.
They also design replacement bridges and monitor construction of new
bridges and culverts. In a recent evaluation by the State of New Jersey,
Middlesex County was found to have the third lowest number of deficient
bridges in New Jersey. This is especially important when you realize
the 2 Counties with less deficiencies had only 1 or 2 bridges.
The Bridge Section
also is responsible for drainage on County roads. We are embarking on
an ambitious program to provide positive drainage along all County roads,
especially those that presently have open ditches. This condition is
quite prevalent in the southern part of the County.
