Housing Preservation Program ("Housing Rehab") - This program makes loans to eligible homeowners to have essential repairs carried out by private contractors. The loan does not have to be repaid until the property is eventually transferred to new ownership; there is no monthly payment. The current maximum loan is $25,000, and there is a 2.5% annual simple interest charge. County inspectors make sure that all work is completed correctly. Participation in the program is limited to income - eligible homeowners in 18 Middlesex County municipalities.
