Alcoholism and other
drug dependence are chronic, progressive and potentially fatal. There
are more deaths, illnesses and disabilities due to abuse and dependence
than due to any other preventable health condition. The urgency of this
issue demands coordinated planning at the national, state and County
levels. Working closely with citizen and professional advisory boards,
the Middlesex County Division Addiction Services:
- Establishes priorities
for funding to effectively address the County's addiction service
needs
- Mandates the
delivery of gender, cultural, disability and lifecycle sensitive services
to Middlesex County residents
- Monitors State
and County funded agencies
- Provides information
and referral regarding the continuum of care
