MEMORANDUM
DATE: July 10, 2008
TO: Executive Directors of Community Non-Profit Agencie
FROM: Blanquita B. Valenti, HSAC Freeholder Liaison
Rosemary Oarsley, HSAC Chair
SUBJECT: 2009 COUNTY SUPPORT GRANT APPLICATIONS
The Middlesex County Human Services Advisory Council (HSAC) is pleased to announce the availability of January 1 – December 31, 2009 support grants.
Support grant recommendations are developed each year by the HSAC and submitted to the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders for final review and approval. The intent of support grants is to provide assistance to Middlesex County’s most vulnerable populations.
Completed support grant applications are due at the Middlesex County Department of Human Services, Division of Social Work Services, 5th Floor, County Administration Building, John F. Kennedy Square (75 Bayard Street), New Brunswick, NJ 08901, no later than 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 5, 2008. Applications will not be accepted after the submission deadline.
Submission of a 2009 support grant application does not constitute a guarantee of funding for either new or previously funded programs. Applications are reviewed by volunteers and staff and then referred with recommendations to the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders for final funding decisions.
An application overview and technical assistance session to provide guidance and information for preparation of the 2008 support grant has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, 2008 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 P.M. at the Middlesex County Fire Academy, located at 1001 Fire Academy Road in Sayreville.
Agencies intending to submit a 2009 support grant application are strongly encouraged to participate in this session. We suggest that Chief Professional Officers, Fiscal Officers and staff specifically responsible for completing the program information be in attendance.
This year the Outcomes section of the application will be much different from prior years. Since this section constitutes twenty percent (20%) of the entire application score, it is imperative that agencies understand the concept of outcomes and how to measure them. Marge Bailey will review this section and will offer some “hands on” training during the last hour of the technical assistance session on July 22nd.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
