The Sheriff's
Missing Persons Unit was established to assist local police agencies
to conduct investigations to help locate missing and unidentified
persons.
Under present
policy, the Sheriff's Missing Persons Unit should be contacted whenever
a subject fits into one of the following emergent missing persons
categories:
- Child under
the age of twelve (12) years old
- Handicapped
person
- Mentally
retarded person
- Person who
is suicidal in nature
- Person under
a doctor's care and dependent upon medication to survive
This Unit maintains
a record of all missing persons reports filed and teletypes which
have been sent by Police agencies within Middlesex County.
